ABOUT THE COURSE

OVERVIEW
This lecture will present different techniques and grafting materials for socket preservation following tooth extraction. Also, techniques of soft tissue management for papilla preservation or formation following extraction. will be reviewed. The purpose of socket preservation will be to provide a proper foundation for future implant placement as well as maintain soft tissue and bone aesthetics in the area of the extraction.

OBJECTIVES
Participants will learn how, when and why to use socket preservation materials and membranes following extraction of teeth. Surgical/clinical techniques will be presented to perform socket augmentation as well as techniques to preserve the gingival architecture following extractions.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER

Richard S. Finlayson, D.D.S., received his dental training at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, Dental Branch in 1975. He entered the Air Force that year for a GPR and later completed training in Periodontics at Wilford Hall Medical Center in 1984 and received his Board Certification in Periodontics in 1987.
